Temperance Mark Lodge No774

Tuesday 18th December 2018

The rain on Tuesday 18th December may have kept the golfers off the golf course, but it did not deter the members of Temperance Mark Lodge No774 from turning up for their end of the year meeting.   With a the following visitors filling the chairs of; Master Overseer; VWBro Eric Hughes, PGJO; Junior Overseer, WBro Stuart Boyd, PPrGSW and WBro Graham Radford, PPrGSD acting as Junior Deacon;   The Worshipful Master, WBro Derek Gaskell, PPrGJD, opened the lodge on time, (more or less).
The first item after the opening of the lodge was a moment remembrance for WBro Ken Baxter, PProv GReg. WBro Andy Whittle, PAGDC spoke about WBro Ken before the Lodge stood for a period of silence.  With the other items of business out of the way, it was time to hold a ballot for a new member, which proved successful.   Bro Steve Cornwell admitted the candidate Bro Kevin Birchall and it was then down to Bro Bob James, Senior Deacon to take Brother Birchall through the trials and tribulations of the advancement ceremony.   At the end of the ceremony, the WM thanked all those who had taken part, with special thanks to the visitors who had assisted in the ceremony.   The next item was for the Lodge to elect a Worshipful Master and Treasurer for the ensuing year.
WBro David Anderton, PGJD the lodge secretary read out the names before WBro Gaskell proclaimed Bro Mike Cunliffe Master Elect and WBro Fred Hulse, PPrStB treasurer, for the following year.  During the first rising WBro Mike Winterbottom, PGSD and The PGM’s Special Representative for the Liverpool group of Mark Lodges presented Grand Lodge Certificates to Bro Tom Lunt and Bro David Aitken.
Before closing the Lodge WBro Derek Gaskell, thanked all the members of Temperance Lodge for their support and encouragement during his two years in the chair and how proud he was to see the development of the new members who had joined the Lodge since its move to Woolton Golf Club.   After the Lodge was closed it was time for a tradition Christmas dinner.  (It was a practice for the big day.)  We wish Bro Kevin Birchall a long and happy as a Mark Mason.
On a personal note, I would like to thank the West Lancs Mark web Master, WBro Mike Beesley for all his hard work and for running the best Masonic website.     On behalf of Temperance Mark Lodge I would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful; Happy and Healthy New Year.
